I am……

a leader, a mom, a wife, a hiker, an advocate, a change agent.

“More subtly, the self creates the world by forcing it into the limits of our own capacity to know. If we can know only what is available to our senses and our logic, then reality is reduced to those narrow terms.”

Parker Palmer

With every decision, every mistake, every learning, I am a changed person. I choose to take those learnings and realize they are all part of my journey, both in life and leadership. Similar to climbing mountains, my view of leadership constantly changes as my environment changes. I am a different person on a hike out then I was in a hike in. I sometimes fall but I get up, I persevere. The challenges in leadership, and in hiking, are to continue putting one foot in front of the other when it might be easier to simply give up.

Progress over perfection.

We shouldn’t be ashamed of our past or the trials and tribulations that got us to where we are today, those challenges make up our authentic self. Everyone is flawed, despite striving for perfection for a large part of my life, I’m not perfect. I find strength in vulnerability and realize that to lead, I need to be me, not play a part.
